Rudy La Crioux and The All Stars
The Rudy LaCrioux Shakedown..
Editor, Aug 23, 14:58
Well folks,
I actually made it to Lowton.. I feel that I\'ve missed so much at the club due to working commitments. Well, I wasn\'t going to let that get in the way of this being one of the best rockin\' nights that I\'ve had in a long while... To start with, we had Poor Boy Paul spinning the tracks for the night with a little help from his good buddy, Steve.
Anyway, on with the show.. Rudy LaCrioux and The All Stars are a top class act that know how to entertain.. Allow me to introduce them.. (from left to right...) Ian Cumming (Rocky) on Rhythm / Acoustic Guitar - Barry Lowe on Lead Guitar - Neil Fisher on Drums - Russ Sear (Rudy) Lead Vocals - Paul Woodmansey (Woody) on Dawghouse Slap Bass.. It wasn\'t long before Paul was drawing his slot to a close and it was time to introduce tonight\'s star attraction.. With a roaring applause, Rudy Lacrioux and The All Stars hit the club with their first number of the night, \"I Want My Baby Now\".. This shortly followed \"Teenage Bug\", and the classic \"If You Want It Enough\".. I\'ll be honest with you.. if you haven\'t already seen this band, then you really need to track them down at a rockin\' venue near you and get yourself in there!
They will rock your socks off! Anyway, as I was saying... One of my all time favourites, \"Jumpin\' From Six To Six\" was soon chased by the title track of their latest album \"Beer \'N\' Bourbon\".. Which incidentally is available from Foot Tapping Records priced £10.. so why not order a copy now..
Now for something completely different.. A new version of Johnny Cash\'s Folsom Prison Blues, re-penned as \"Folsom Prison Bop\" It still had the Johnny Cash feel, but was re-vamped Rudy LaCrioux style, and I loved it. Then it was the stompin\' bopper, \"Hep Cat\", \"Green Dollar Back\" and finally the raunchy \"Woodpecker Rock\". Well time never wait for no man, even if they\'re having a good old rockin\' time! It was time for Poor Boy Paul to start spinning those tracks of wax again.. And as usual, he never fails to come up with the goods.. Well it wasn\'t long before it was band time again. Rudy and the lads soon got their appetite for more and so did we! \"Come On Little Mama\" was their first number of the their second spot, and this soon got a few boppers to the dance floor.. The Carl Perkins golden classic \"Honey Don\'t\" followed by the hearty stroller, \"Bertha Lou\". Still the audience wanted more as their applause and appreciation intensified. Another raunchy stroller followed in the shape of \"Lovers Curse\", this incidentally is another personal favourite of mine.. \"Cool Cool Daddy\", \"When I Found You\" and \"Sweet Love\" brought the show to a close.. Well that was the plan! With shouts of \"WE WANT MORE!\"
\"He-he-hey, he-he-hey, he-he-hey Rock woodpecker, lets rock!\"
Whilst hands clapped and feet banged, the band had little choice but to return with a spectacular version of Eddie Bonds \"Rockin\' Daddy\". Well you\'ve heard the saying; \"The shows not over till the fat lady sings\"? Well we had no fat lady, but Rudy LaCrioux wasn\'t ready to give up yet! He finally closed the show with a total re-vamp of the 1960\'s hit for The Animals; \"The House Of The Rising Sun\". It was never a particular favourite of mine, but stripped bare and given the Rudy LaCrioux treatment, it\'s now one that I\'ll buy, as long as it\'s these lads that are playing it! Wow.. What a night! I\'ll tell one thing about these lads. They are gentlemen to the core, and they really do know how to entertain.. I for one will be voting to bring Rudy LaCrioux and The All Stars back to Lowton in the non too distant future. Well done guys!
The thanks don\'t stop there.. I know I keep on going on about you, the audience, but without you there will be no club. I\'d like to personally thank everybody for their attendance on the night. Having a band on stage is only one part of the big machine. It\'s you who makes the engine run.. Thanks again, and I hope to see you all soon..
Lovers Curse..
